This specimen was lot 936 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 26,000 (about US$32,583 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "50 Kopecks 1901, St. Petersburg Mint, ФЗ. Rare as a proof. Cabinet piece. Choice brilliant proof with most attractive orange-blue patina." This is a scarce date of a type struck 1895-1914. The fifty kopeks replaced the old poltina or half ruble.
