Sincona sale 77, lot 3057

This specimen was lot 3057 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 120 CHF (about US$146 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Nicholas II. 1894-1917. 10 Kopecks 1901, St. Petersburg Mint, FZ. NGC MS63." This type is listed for 1867-1914. The nineteenth century dates are scarce in nice condition but the later dates are common with, of course, the exception of the proofs. This particular mintmaster issued regular circulation strikes 1900-01 whereas mintmaster AP is noted for 1901-05. In 1914, Russia plunged into World War One, which conflict would lead to the destruction of the regime.

Recorded mintage: 15,000,000 (including assayer AP).
