This specimen was lot 21441 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 25 Kopek, 1901. PCGS PROOF-62+ Secure Holder. VERY RARE. The finest graded at PCGS. A proof only issue from an estimated mintage of only 200 to 300 pieces. Light plum toning with cobalt peripheral highlights; a stunning example of this elusive date." This is a rare date of a type struck 1895-1901 and the last of the denomination.
