Sincona sale 19, lot 911

This specimen was lot 911 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 20,000 (about US$25,064 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Rouble 1896, St. Petersburg Mint, АГ. Coronation. Rare as a proof. Choice brilliant uncirculated proof." This one year type commemorated the coronation of Nicholas II, who would be the last tsar of Russia. It is not rare tho scarcer than the regular issue (Dav-293).

Recorded mintage: 191,000 plus proofs.
