This specimen was lot 25644 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $9,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas II Proof 25 Kopecks 1896, Bust left / Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date and value, Proof 66 Cameo NGC. Brilliant white with a sharp strike and slightly cloudy appearance. Very rare in this Choice Proof condition." This is the only common date of a type struck 1895-1901.
