This specimen was lot 540 in Sincona sale 78 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$1,019 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Alexander III. 1881-1894, Rouble 1882, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB NF. 1.75 roubles according to Petrov. Extremely fine. Minor edge nick." This type was struck 1859-85 in respectable quantities but not so many as the prior type (Dav-283). Assayer's initials HΦ = Nicolai Follendorf, who operated 1877-82.
Recorded mintage: 434,000, a better date.
