Sincona sale 84, lot 465

This specimen was lot 465 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$1,077 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 1/4 Kopeck 1882, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB. Rare. 2 roubles according to Ilyin. NGC MS62 BN."

This type was struck 1881-93. It is identical to the polushkas issued for Alexander II except for the ordinal of the tsar's monogram.

Recorded mintage: 60,000, a better date.

Specification: 0.80 g, copper.
