This specimen was lot 24968 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $4,406.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Alexander III Proof 20 Kopecks 1882 CПБ-HФ, St. Petersburg mint, Proof 65 Cameo NGC. Ex: Irving Goodman Collection. Stunning cameo contrast, with fully mirrored fields and light original patina." This type is listed for 1867-93 and 1901-14. The nineteenth century dates are scarce in nice condition but the later dates are common with, of course, the exception of the proofs. In 1914, Russia plunged into World War One, which conflict would lead to the destruction of the regime. Assayer's initials HΦ = Nicolai Follendorf.
