This specimen was lot 863 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 6,500 (about US$8,146 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "15 Kopecks 1882, St. Petersburg Mint, HФ. Magnificent choice brilliant proof." This type was issued 1867-1914 in large numbers and is common tho this specimen realized sixteen times the catalog value for a proof. This is the closest thing in the Russian series to a silver dime. Assayer's initials HΦ = Nicolai Follendorf.
Recorded mintage: 1,470,000 (both assayers).
Specification: 2.70 g, 0.500 fine silver, this specimen 2.67 g.
