This specimen was lot 75426 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 15 Kopeks, 1879-CNB HO. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander III. PCGS MS-64. Surpassed in the PCGS census by just two examples, this stunner displays rich steely gray brilliance and a hint of golden toning." This type was issued 1867-1914 in large numbers and is common. This is the closest thing in the Russian series to a silver dime. Assayers initials НФ stand for Nikolay Follendorf, who served 1877-82. This is a common date.
