This specimen was lot 30507 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $2,232.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Alexander III Rouble 1883 СПБ-ДC MS61 NGC, St. Petersburg mint. Obv. Crowned doubled-headed Imperial eagle in circle. Rev. Crowned date and value in wreath. Well struck, and fully lustrous, with light sea-green toning. A very scarce issue in Mint State." This is a late date of a type struck 1859-85.

Recorded mintage: 425,000 (assayers AC and DS).

Specification: 20.73 g, 0.868 fine silver.
