Stephen Album internet sale 28, lot 1130

This specimen was lot 1130 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it sold for $570. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIAN EMPIRE: Alexander II, 1855-1881, AR 20 kopecks, 1872, St. Petersburg mint, Nikolai Iossa mintmaster, a superb example! PCGS graded MS65, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." In 1867, the weight of the twenty kopeks was reduced from 4.14 g, 0.750 fine silver to 3.60 g, 0.500 fine silver and struck in that form until the collapse of the regime. None were made 1894-1900.

Recorded mintage: 11,980,000.
