Sincona sale 84, lot 445

This specimen was lot 445 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 120 CHF (about US$162 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 2 Kopecks 1872, Ekaterinburg Mint, EM. Extremely fine."

This type was struck 1867-76 at Ekaterinburg and is the last issue of this denomination from this mint, which closed in 1876. This is a scarce date despite the large mintage.

Recorded mintage: 12,734,000.

Specification: 6.3 g, copper, 24 mm diameter, this specimen 6.47 g.
