This specimen was lot 1409 in Stephen Album sale 47 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIAN EMPIRE: Alexander II, 1855-1881, AR rouble, 1871, initials HI, lightly cleaned, semi-prooflike, somewhat better date, AU, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This type was struck 1859-85 in respectable quantities but not so many as the prior type (Dav-283).
Recorded mintage: 884,000, an uncommon date.
