Sincona sale 19, lot 812

This specimen was lot 812 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 3,000 (about US$3,760 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Rouble 1869, St. Petersburg Mint, HI. 2.5 roubles according to Petrov. 3 roubles acc. to Trapeznikov. About uncirculated." This type was struck 1859-85 in respectable quantities but not so many as the prior type (Dav-283).

Recorded mintage: 285,000.
