Russia 1871-SP 1/2 kopek
This specimen was lot 443 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 25,000 CHF (about US$33,666 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 1/2 Kopeck 1871, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB. Extremely rare. 15 roubles according to Petrov. 150 roubles per set according to Ilyin. NGC MS63 BN. Beautiful condition with magnificent patina. From auction Künker 255, Osnabrück, October 2014, lot 5899 (price realized: EUR 42,000). From the Antonin Prokop collection, part 1, auction Aurea 6, Prag 2002, lot 331."
This type was struck 1867-70, 1876-81 at Ekaterinburg and St. Petersburg. Mintages are generally decent but the SCWC does not note the existence of any proofs. The half kopek or denga was the second lowest denomination Russian coin.
