Sincona sale 19, lot 756

This specimen was lot 756 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 325 (about US$407 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "25 Kopecks 1860, St. Petersburg Mint, ÔÁ. Old ink marks. About uncirculated." This type is listed for 1859-85 and was emitted in modest quantities. This date is common. The twenty-five kopeks superseded the polupoltinnik (quarter ruble) last coined in 1810.
