This specimen was lot 1515 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 5 Kopek, 1860-EM. Ekaterinburg Mint. PCGS MS-62 BN Secure Holder. Even chocolate toning with a few hints of mint luster." This copper five kopeks was issued in large numbers by the Ekaterinburg mint 1859-67 and succeeded a similar type of 1850-59. The copper five kopeks was reduced to 16.38 g in 1867 and terminated in 1881. In the 1860's, the regime struck this denomination in silver (KM Y19.2) and copper (shown here).
