Russia 1846-SP PA ruble Dav-283

This specimen was lot 13373 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Ruble, 1846-CNBNA. NGC MS-63." This type was struck 1832-58 in large quantities but is today very rare in nice condition. The preceding type (Dav-282) is very similar but with a "wings down" eagle. An 1846/5 overdate exists and is priced lower than the normal date.
