This specimen was lot 25376 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it did not sell. The catalog description[2] noted, "Nicholas I Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1844 MW (Warsaw mint), Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle / Crowned date and value in wreath, bottom of eagle's tail even, AU50 NGC. Light gray toning with minor contact marks. A very scarce issue." Altho struck in much much smaller numbers than the contemporary ruble, this type struck at Warsaw 1842-47 and 1854 has a lower catalog value.
Recorded mintage: 116,000.
