Künker sale 335, lot 5377

This specimen was lot 5377 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €200 (about US$262 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND, KAISERREICH, Nikolaus I. 1825-1855. Ku.-10 Kopeken 1836, St. Petersburg. Novodel; . R Kratzer, vorzüglich. (empire of Russia, Nicholas I, 1825-55, copper ten kopeks of 1836, St. Petersburg mint, novodel. Rare, scratches, extremely fine.)"

This copper type was struck at Ekaterinburg 1831-39 (shown here) and St Petersburg (C141.3) and competed with a silver grivennik (C157). It is common in circulated condition.

Recorded mintage: 7,240,000.
