This specimen was lot 42556 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 25 Kopeks, 1832-CNB HT. St. Petersburg Mint. Nicholas I. NGC MS-65. The sole finest example certified by NGC, with two examples in equivalent grade at PCGS. A RARELY offered date in Mint State, let alone in the present Gem condition, and quite deserving of this lofty designation. Beautifully toned with soft red-orange patina that speaks to years of proper storage and preservation, with clean, smooth fields that have remained exempt of all but minute marks." This is the first issue of the "wings up" eagle, which was used until 1858. The incumbent mintmaster was Nikolai Grachev, whose initials we have transliterated as "NG".
