This specimen was lot 31366 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Paul I Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1800 CM-OM AU55 NGC, St. Petersburg mint. Obv. Cruciform crowned Imperial monogram with the date. Rev. Four-line legend in garnished tablet. Nicely defined details, with mottled gray patina and a few light marks." This poltina or half ruble was struck in this style 1798-1801. Like the other poltinas of the eighteenth century, it is scarce. The similar ruble (Dav-1688) is rather more available.
Reported Mintage: 330,000 including assayer MB, a scarce type.
