SB124-54330 rev.jpg

This specimen was lot 54330 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $11,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 1/2 Ruble (Poltina), 1799-CM OU. St. Petersburg Mint. Paul I. NGC AU-58. RARER than the commonly seen issue of this type, this example was produced by the mint master Fedor Cetreus, generating the initials "OU" on the piece, which differs from the more commonly seen Mikhail Bobrovshikov issues.
