Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale, lot 75281

This specimen was lot 75281 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Kopek, 1799-EM. Ekaterinburg Mint. Paul I. NGC MS-63 Brown. Completely charming, this Imperial Russian copper still has traces of mint red in the protected elements of the design and is totally beautiful." This type was struck at Ekaterinburg, Annensk and Kolyvan 1797-1800. This is the most common date of a fairly plentiful type.
