Aureo y Calicó sale 422, lot 3460

This specimen was lot 3460 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Rusia. Siberia. 1764. Isabel II. 1 polushka. (KM N2). Novodel. Rara. CU. EBC- [rare, about extremely fine]." This type was struck at Kolyvan for Siberia 1767-79. The type is not rare but quite a bit scarcer than the contemporary five kopeks. This is a rare date. It is not a novodel, as claimed by the auctioneers, as KM N2 features martens on the reverse. Novodels were generally well struck on fresh dies.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.6 g, copper, this specimen 1,82 g.

Catalog reference: KM C1.
