This specimen was lot 30438 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elizabeth Rouble 1753 М.М.Д-I П AU53 NGC, Red mint. Obv. Crowned bust right. Rev. Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date. Nicely struck, with light golden patina over lustrous surfaces, with a small reverse edge flaw at 9 o'clock. A very nice example of the grade." This type was struck 1751-54 at St. Petersburg (KM-C19b.5) and Moscow and is not expensive in low grade.
Recorded mintage: 597,000 (including assayer IS).
