Russia 1707 ruble Dav-1643
This specimen was lot 1004 in Sincona sale 93 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 9,500 CHF (about US$13,167 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Peter I. 1682-1725, Rouble 1707, Kadashevsky Mint. Portrait by G. Haupt without mint master initials, without ribbon on wreath. Selten, Gutes sehr schön, Leicht gereinigt, Rare. 10 roubles according to Petrov. Good Very Fine. Lightly cleaned. From auction Classical Numismatic Group 111, May 2019, lot 988. From the RAJ Collection, Stephen Harvey FPL (August), lot 471."
This type was struck 1707 only, some with mintmaster initial "G", others with initial "H" and some without any initial, as here. Most have Cyrillic dates but this example has a date in Arabic numerals. Davenport lists at least four other rubles for 1707.
