Russia (1705)-BK kopek
This specimen was lot 25 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 2,600 (about US$3,258 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Kopeck 1705, Naberezhny Mint, БК. Rare. 2-3 roubles according to Petrov. Scratch. Good very fine. Collector's note: 'S. Obv. dot. Rev. Star'." This type of 1704-18 is fairly common tho this specimen realized thirty times the catalog value. In the days of Peter the Great, kopeks were struck in billon (KM 153) as well as copper (shown here). One hundred kopeks make a ruble. The SCWC shows kopeks ranging in weight from 4.10 g (KM 185) to 20.85 g (KM C3.2).
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 8.19 g, copper, this specimen 7.88 g.
