Regensburg 1694-MF thaler Dav-5772
This specimen was lot 3157 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €3,800 (about US$4,986 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS LEOPOLDS I. Reichstaler 1694 (Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1691 geändert), mit Titel Leopolds I. Münzmeister Michael Federer. Sehr selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Hübsche Patina, kl. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (city of Regensburg, thaler of 1694, struck in the name of Leopold I, 1694/1 overdate. Very scarce, especially in this quality, cabinet example, handsome patina, planchet defect on the rim, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This thaler was struck 1680-81, 1691 and 1694. Another thaler (KM 203/Dav-5773), with the date at the top, was struck 1694 and 1696.
