Prussia 1913-A 2 mark KM-533
This specimen was lot 42935 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $90. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. 2 Mark, 1913-A. PCGS MS-66+ Gold Shield. Struck to commemorate the 25th year of reign. Satiny in the fields with a small set of reeding marks in the field behind Wilhelm II's bust that precludes the MS-67 grade. Rather distinctive in appearance as well with a mixture of peach, mauve and blue tone on both sides that delivers wonderful eye appeal." This coin is a one year type issued to commemorate Wilhelm II's 25th anniversary of his reign. This type was also accompanied by a silver three mark and five mark. Both issues were extensively saved and are today more available than the regular issue (KM 522).
Recorded mintage: 1,500,000 + 5,000 proofs.
Specification: 11.11 g, 0.900 fine silver, .321 troy oz AGW.
