Baden 1913-G 2 mark
This specimen was lot 2561 in Künker sale 439 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €700 (about US$963 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"REICHSSILBERMÜNZEN, BADEN Friedrich II., 1907-1918. 2 Mark 1913. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz. (grand duchy of Baden, Frederick II, 1907-18, two mark of 1913, cabinet piece, about uncirculated.)"
Under the German Empire of 1871-1918, the denominations of two mark and up were permitted for the formerly independent principalities while the lower denominations (one pfennig thru one mark) were minted to a unified design. This two mark was struck 1911 and 1913 and is rather scarce. The three and five mark turn up more frequently.
Recorded mintage: 937,050. Proofs exist.
Specification: 11.11 g, 0.900 fine silver, 28 mm diameter.
