This specimen was lot 23845 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "Baden. Friedrich II gold 10 Mark 1913-G, MS64 NGC, a choice example with full golden mint brilliance, very scarce this nice." Altho Baden was not a major issuer of coins prior to unification, its issues during the Empire (1871-1918) were substantial. The Baden mint at Karlsruhe (mintmark "G") struck minor coins during the Empire and afterward until today. This type was struck 1909-13 for Friedrich II, grand duke 1907-18.

Recorded mintage: 42,000 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 3.98 g, 0.900 fine gold, .115 troy oz AGW.
