Prussia 1867-C 2 pfennig
This specimen was lot 72225 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. 2 Pfennig, 1867-C. Cleve Mint. Wilhelm I. PCGS PROOF-66 Red Brown. This wonderful and SCARCE proof issue from Prussia yields strong details and almost no evidence of handling. A piece deserved of much attention from any specialists in German states coinage." This type was struck 1861-73 (two years after unification) at Berlin (A), Hannover (B) and Frankfurt (C) and all dates are common tho the SCWC does not mention any proofs. The coin states that it is 2 PFENNINGE or 180 EINEN THALER.
