Kunker sale 263, part of lot 724

This specimen was part of lot 724 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), which sold for €280 (about US$362 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH Wilhelm I. 1861-1888. Vereinstaler 1861 A, 1862, A. Ausbeute. 2 Stück., Vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, William I, 1861-88, silver mining thalers of 1861 and 1862, two pieces, extremely fine.)"

This type of 1861-62 is the last mining thaler issued in Prussia. It is common. The last Saxon mining thaler was issued in 1867.

Recorded mintage: 70,000.

Specification: 18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver, lettered edge.
