the Prussian Rhineland after the Congress of Vienna, with Düsseldorf as its capital

This specimen was lot 715 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €440 (about US$569 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1797-1840. Taler 1819, D. Seltener Jahrgang. Feine Patina, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William III, 1797-1840, thaler of 1819. Rare date, fine patina, choice extremely fine.)"

This product of the Düsseldorf mint in the Rhineland is from a type struck 1816-22. It is the most common date from this mint but is still priced double a Berlin issue.

Specification: 22.27 g, 0.750 fine silver, .537 troy oz ASW.
