Künker sale 353, lot 4029

This specimen was lot 4029 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €400 (about US$557 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1797-1840. Die Münzstätte Glatz. Kreuzer 1808, G. Prägung für Schlesien. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtvolle Patina, fast Stempelglanz. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William III, 1797-1840, kreuzer of 1808, struck for Silesia. Very scarce in this quality, superb patina, about uncirculated.)"

This surprisingly scarce type was struck 1806-A and 1808-G only. This date was struck at Glatz while Breslau, the site of the regular mint, was under French occupation.
