Künker sale 353, lot 4030

This specimen was lot 4030 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €55 (about US$77 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1797-1840. Die Münzstätte Glatz. Gröschel 1808, G. Prägung für Schlesien. Zainende, vorzüglich. Erworben 1996. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William III, 1797-1840, groschel of 1808, Glatz mint, struck for Silesia. Clipped, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1805-06 at Berlin and 1808-09 at Glatz. The Glatz mint operated while Breslau, the site of the regular mint, was under French occupation.
