This specimen was lot 1282 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $2,938. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. 1/3 Taler (1/2 Gulden), 1741. Egn Berlin Mint. NGC AU-58. Friedrich II (1740-86)." This denomination, little minted in Frederick William's time, became important after 1764 when large quantities were issued. This one year type is rare.
