This type, the size of a dime, was struck in Lisbon 1864-89. King Luis ruled 1861-89. There was an issue of silver one hundred réis during the reign of Carlos (KM 531, 1890-98) after which the coin was converted to copper-nickel.
Recorded mintage: 360,000 (a common date).
Specification: 2.5 g, 0.917 fine silver, .073 oz ASW.
