This specimen was lot 328 in Sedwick sale 8 (Winter Park, FL, October 2010), where it sold for $5,750. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Lisbon, Portugal, peça (6400 reis), 1830, choice, prooflike Mint State. Very flashy, medal-like specimen of an exceptional strike, with faint hairlines in fields."
This type was struck 1830-31 only by the usurper Michael I. Originally valued at 6400 réis, the peça was valued upwards to 7500 réis in 1826. The last peça was struck in 1835 during the reign of Maria II; decimal coinage was introduced in 1837.
