This specimen was lot 43873 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. 400 Reis, 1730. Joao V (1706-50). PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. Nice strike with soft satin luster." This type was struck in Lisbon 1718-48 and is often listed as a cruzado novo. It was officially worth 400 réis but traded for 480 réis.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not a rare date.
