This specimen was lot 31329 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "João V gold Escudo (1600 Reis) 1730 MS62 NGC, Lisbon mint, A striking representative of the type, with bold definition across the design features and attractive, lightly patinated golden surfaces. Rarely-encountered in a Mint State quality, and as such, worthy of a premium bid." This type is noted for 1723-49 and has a rather low catalog value for a seldom seen coin. This date is listed as common.
