This specimen was lot 1961 in Goldberg sale 122 (Los Angeles, June 2021), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "Portugal. 400 Reis, 1729. Joao V, 1706-1750. Crown over name. Reverse: Cross. The finest example graded at NGC. NGC graded MS-65. Yifu Che Collection." This type was struck in Lisbon 1718-48 and is often listed as a cruzado novo. It was officially worth 400 réis but traded for 480 réis.
