This specimen was lot 243 in Sedwick sale 12 (Winter Park, FL, October 2012), where it sold for $354. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lisbon, Portugal, 400 reis, João V, 1728. Bold and problem-free AU, popular for jewelry." This type was struck in Lisbon 1718-48 and is often listed as a cruzado novo. It was officially worth 400 réis but traded for 480 réis.
