This specimen was lot 23501 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. Real, ND (1521-57). Porto Mint. Joao III. NGC EF-45. This wondrous specimen, yielding some charming toning and a good deal of underlying luster, would appear to be rather conservatively graded in the opinion of this cataloger. Some light ghosting is noted on the obverse, but the strike is otherwise extremely solid."
