This specimen was lot 75600 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $125. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. 100 Zlotych, 1982-CHI. Switzerland (Valcambi) Mint. PCGS PROOF-67 Deep Cameo." Pope John Paul II, the first non-Italian pope in several centuries, was a Polish celebrity of the first order and even the Communist regime could not pass up the opportunity to issue NCLT's in his honor. The 1982 series include 100, 200, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10,000 złotych denominations in various metals.
Recorded mintage: 8,700 plus 3,750 proofs.
