This specimen was lot 21737 in Heritage sale 3004 (New York, January 2009), where it sold for $4,312.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Papal States. Clement XI Piastra (Scudo) Anno XIII (1713), AU58 NGC. Piazza/Pa[n]theon with Fountain/Obelisque. Original, iridescent surfaces with nice definition and light toning. From the Grundy Collection." The other piastra for 1713 is similar but only shows the fountain without the surrounding buildings. This type is one of fifteen different piastri struck in Rome during Clement's reign. None are cheap.
