Papal States (1712) giulio KM-748
This specimen was lot 1527 in Künker sale 403 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €220 (about US$289 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"PAPST CLEMENS XI., 1700-1721. Die Münzstätte Rom. Giulio AN XII (1711/1712), Rom. Stempelschneider Ermenegildo Hamerani. R Fast vorzüglich. (Papal States, Clement XI, 1700-21, giulio of year XII, Rome mint, engraver Ermenegildo Hamerani. Rare, about extremely fine.)"
Berman lists fifteen different guilii for this pope; Berman-2409 depicts the pope's bust on the obverse and his arms on the reverse. It was struck during year XII. The giulio was ten baiocchi, while the piastra, the Italian equivalent of the German thaler, was 105 baiocchi (3½ testone).
