Künker sale 403, lot 1473

This specimen was lot 1473 in Künker sale 403 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €2,600 (about US$3,412 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"PAPST INNOCENZ XII., 1691-1700. Die Münzstätte Rom. Testone A III/1693, Rom. Mit Wappen des Presidente della zecca, Monsieur Maffeo Farsetti, auf der Rückseite. R Schöne Tönung, vorzüglich. Exemplar der Spezialsammlung Münzen und Medaillen der Päpste, Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 233, Osnabrück 2013, Nr. 1645. (Papal States, Innocent XII, 1691-1700, testone of the year 3, 1693, Rome mint, with the mintmaster's arms on the reverse. Rare, beautiful toning, extremely fine.)"

The reverse depicts an eagle defending her young; the motto translates as, "She covers and protects".
